Cornelius (Boslooper) Woodruff is my Great-Grandfather. I was told the name was changed from Boslooper (Bosloper) when the family emigrated - though it may have been when they became citizens. Cornelius (Boslooper) Woodruff, was born in The Netherlands, and migrated to Kalamzoo Michigan where he married Nellie Sinon (first generation American). Cornelius and Nellie's marriage produced two children that I am aware of. 'Baby' Woodruff (I believe a girl) was either stillborn or died in infancy 1905. Their son, Raymond William Woodruff was my Grandfather. Cornelius died when Raymond was young, and I recall my grandfather (Raymond) telling me stories of his Uncle Henry walking him to school after his father died. Raymond didn't care for school, and would beat feet back home before Uncle Henry arrived, much to Uncle Henry's chagrin. To my knowledge, Nellie Sinon Woodruff never remarried after the death of Cornelius. Raymond William Woodruff was born in Kalamazoo MI 1908 and remained there until his death in 1983. He married Effie Marie Weessies, also a lifelong resident of Kalmazoo in 1932. Raymond and Effie's union produced one son, James (my father).) |
